Emma S. Clark Memorial Library partners with Long Island Museum

The Emma S. Clark Memorial Library is partnering with The Long Island Museum of American Art, History, and Carriages to provide a unique learning experience at the museum on Wednesday, April 17 from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m.  Participants will tour the exhibit, An Artful Life, and then stay for a discussion led by Carolyn Emerson and Deidre Doran, Reference Librarians, on the book Strapless:  John Singer Sargent and the Fall of Madame X.

This partnership is one of many that the library is pursuing in order to expand its presence within the community.  According to Emerson, “the library is no longer just a physical space; it is, increasingly, a virtual presence existing outside of the building’s walls.  This has lead us to broaden our thinking about the library’s role.  Therefore, we are seeking to become more of a presence in other venues in the community and to collaborate more with other institutions.”

The April 17 program is currently sold out, but anyone interested in signing up for the wait list should call the library at (631) 941-4080 x.115.  Or add your name to the wait list online by visiting
