Emma Clark Library delivers books to Long Island State Veterans Home

Emma Clark Library has just started a new program with the Long Island State Veterans Home at Stony Brook University.  Volunteers from the library brought around 60 large print books to the home, and they plan on rotating the books about once a month.  Books are selected by Connie Roberts, Adult Reference Librarian at Emma Clark.

The Veterans Home is very excited about our new partnership with Emma Clark Library,” says Susan K. Helmus, Director of Volunteer Services.  ”Our residents can really benefit from large print books, yet over the years we have found these hard to come by.  The partnership with Emma Clark Library is such a wonderful resource for our residents.  They are looking forward to perusing the large assortment of titles.”

For some patrons, it is difficult getting to the physical library building for a variety of reasons, including transportation and health issues.  This partnership brings the library to them.  The program with the Veterans Home will be ongoing, and the library hopes to expand this service to other senior homes in the community as well.

The Long Island State Veterans Home provides high quality and compassionate health care services for veterans and their families.

The Emma S. Clark Memorial Library, located at 120 Main Street in Setauket, provides public library service to all residents of the Three Village Central School District.
